Intake Coordinator - Home Infusion

Due to growth, our client, a privately-owned, patient-focused specialty pharmacy serving patients with specialty infusion pharmacy needs, is seeking a full-time Intake Coordinator. This is a direct-hire position with great benefits and a stable and progressive work environment.

The Intake Coordinator will be responsible for processing new patient referrals.  He or she will:

  • Initiate the intake process, gather relevant data from referral sources and complete intake paperwork. 
  • Determine eligibility and benefits for new referrals or re-admissions.
  • Obtain authorizations and secure financial obligations for new referrals or readmissions.
  • Notify clinical departments of new referral, coordinate information and provide required paperwork to referral source and clinicians. 
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and obtain authorization for services and or pre determination of benefits. 
  • Communicate benefit coverage to patients
  • Excellent communication skills and record of job stability
  • Show concern and respect for others by dealing with people in a compassionate, sensitive and responsive manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1-2 years of experience with intake/eligibility/authorization in a pharmacy or medical environment
  • 1 year of experience in home infusion or other pharmacy setting strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ICD-9, HCPC and CPT coding required. 
  • Knowledge of health insurance guidelines to include benefits and risk matrixes required. 
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to calculate price quotes required. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with referral sources, case managers, supervisors, staff employees and the general public is required. 
  • Basic personal computer skills required; prior experience with healthcare software programs preferred. Must be able to speak and present ideas clearly.
